Note-writing as an intellectual craft: Niklas Luhmann and academic writing as a process

Abstract Despite numerous indications that academic writing is a means toward intellectual discovery and not just representation of thought, in Brazil, it seen more as product studies subjects than an integral part university education. This article presents note-taking, apparently simple supposedly archaic activity, way through which eminently oriented towards constructing authorial thought. To this end, we discuss recent findings the historiography show note-taking essential practice development modern intellectuality. We also present emblematic case, 20th century, fruitful use system created by German sociologist Niklas Luhmann. Finally, point out value goes beyond mere historical curiosity, constituting additional tool for daily life satisfaction sense are at center life.
